About Big East Native Drums
After looking many years for nice hand-drums, we decided that
we would have better luck making our own. The first couple of drums that we
made were buffalo on hardwood, and they sounded beautiful. They just did not look
like we originally wanted them to look. After many attempts and designs, we finally
came up with a drum that reflects the East Coast native sound. We tried using them with A-ni-tsa-la-gi'
and Hau-de-no-sau-nee songs and they had the proper tone. Then we used them with pow wow and '49 songs
and they also fit the bill. We have been artists and carvers for many years now and we take great pride in our work.
Because we have been in different singing societies and have been on pow-wow drum groups, we know what singers want in a drum.
